Marengo was originally built in 1837 in Autauga County. but in 1847, the house was dismantled and moved across the river and reconstructed in its current location in Lowndesboro, Alabama. The house is owned by the Lowndesboro Landmarks Foundation. Leslie Bailey, owner of "Silver Spoon" & "Extraordinary Event Planning," became the proprietor of Marengo in the summer of 2007 to develop it as a wedding and event venue.

Iron Chef 2008

Had a really fun group of corporate folks come to Marengo for dinner and an "Iron Chef" competition the latter part of February 2008.  The guests were divided into three teams, given a basket of diverse ingredients, and challenged to come up with a dish made from those ingredients.  Sound familiar?  It was a blast!   Not saying I would want to sample any of the final products, but it made for a great evening of entertainment for all!

Fondly,
